Raw banana - 1
Salt - as needed
cooking soda - little pinch
Water as needed

To grind the masala:

Red chili - 3
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Garlic -2 slice
Asafoetida powder - 1/4 tsp

Method

Take a raw banana and remove the skin. After removing its skin cut it into the thin slices. The slices should  neither be too thin nor too thick like the below picture shows.

In a blender ,add red chili, asafoetida powder, garlic, cumin seeds together and blend well. It should be blend as a nice smooth paste.

In a bowl, add the besan flour, salt, the masala, cooking soda together and mix well.Add water little by little to make a thick batter.check for taste and adjust the quantity of ingredients. The batter should not be of running consistency.

Heat oil in a pan and when oil is hot,now dip one slice into the batter. The batter should covers the slices completely and leave into the oil, deep fry till golden brown colour will appear. Then transfer to a tissue paper to remove the excess oil and serve hot with chutney or sauce along with tea.

Note-

  • The batter should be little thick ,if the batter is running consistency the bajji will drink too much oil when you deep fry.
  • Don't heat oil too much ,if you heat too much the bajji will burn.
  • You can add raw red chilli powder instead of the masala. But if make masala in your own it will give nice flavor.
