Ragi Idli

                                     
Ragi has many nutritional values,and it reduce the bad cholesterol.When I was kid my Grandma Prepared Ragi dosa,Ragi Vadai,ragi Malt(ambali) at least weekly once.Ragi has cooling effect on the body.So be careful while using it in winter.It is good for people working unter bright sun.
  


Ingredients needed


  • Ragi flour - 1 cup
  • Rava / Sooji (optional) - 1 cup
  • Urad dal - 1/2 cup
  • salt - as needed
  • Cooking soda - pinch

Method


  1. First soak the urad dal for at least 2 hours.Soak the rava in water separately for an hour before mixing with urad dal batter.
  2. After 2 hours grind the urad dal to a nice smooth batter.Then drain the water from rava and add with urad dal batter.
  3. Now add ragi flour and then mix well with salt.Leave it this mixture for fermentation  at least 10 hrs .
  4. Add pinch of cooking soda in the batter while making idly and mix well.
  5. Take the idli maker plates,grease some oil on that plates and pour the idli batter.Steam covered for about 10 minutes and using spoon remove the idlies.
  6. Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
