Idly Podi

                        Idli podi makes nice accompaniment for south Indian breakfast  items like Idli,Dosa and mixed with rice will also give nice taste and aroma.There are many variations in idly podi here I made on my grandma style. 




Ingredients needed


  • Urad Dal -1/2 cup
  • Chana Dal- 1/2 cup
  • Red chilies - 10 - 12 nos or as spicy needed
  • Salt - as required
  • Garlic (optional) - 4 gloves
  • Curry leaves (optional) - 1 spring
  • Sesame seeds - 2 tsp
  • Asafoetida(hing)- 1/4 tsp
  • Oil - 1 tsp



Method 



  1. First heat oil in a pan, add red chilies,curry leaves, garlic gloves and fry them until they turn to crispy.After that keep it in a plate.
  2. Now the same pan ,add urad dal, chana dal and fry them separately until they turn their color as a golden brown and then keep it on the same plate.
  3. Now add the sesame seeds in the same pan and fry them until pop up and then keep it on the plate.
  4. Now Let it allow to cool and then grind in a mixer with enough salt.Grind them without any lumps.
  5. Then allow to cool and keep that ground powder in the air tight container.
