Paniyaram is the most south indian food,So i thought to try with oats.It is came out very well and gave different taste also.Even My kids also love to eat this when i serve with sauce.

Ingredients needed

Quick cooking oats  - 1 cup
Rava/Sooji - 1 cup
Sour curd - 1 cup
Chana dal -  2 tsp(Optional)
Onion   -1 (Finely chopped)
Green chilies - 2 (Finely chopped)
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Coriander leaves - 1 spring
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Cooking soda - 1/4 tsp
Salt  - as needed

Method

  1. Soak the chana dal in water for 1 hour,if you use.
  2. Dry roast the Oats and Sooji separately until it will change their color.Do not roast too much. Then lets it allow to cool and make a coarse powder in a mixer.
  3. In a big bowl, beat the curd without any lumps and then add ground oats and sooji powder.Add enough water and mix well to get the consistency of dosa batter.
  4. Add salt and cooking soda and mix well then leave it aside for 1 hour. You should leave for atleast half an hour.
  5. After one hour add finely chopped onion, curry leaves, coriander leaves, chana dal, cumin seeds and green chillies with this batter and mix well.
  6. Check the consistency because mostly sooji will absorb the water when it is soaked. So check and add the water if need.
  7. Heat the paniyaram pan and add 1/2 tsp of oil an each impression. Then pour the batter and keep the low-medium flame in a stove. So that it will cook evenly.
